Bertha C (Gola) Samkin

Monson-Bertha C. (Gola) Samkin, 96, passed away Monday April 16, 2018 at Lifecare Center of Wilbraham.  Bertha was born in Monson, December 19, 1921 to the late Anthony M. and Caroline (Tomczyk) Gola.  She was was a graduate of Monson High School.  She was a LPN for 32 years and retired from the Monson Developmental Center.  Bertha was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Monson.  She was active with the Monson Democratic Town Committee, she received the Monson Rotary Club Citizen of the year award and for many years was a school crossing guard.

Bertha leaves her sons, Douglas Gola and his wife Martha of Monson and John Samkin and his wife Lolita of Florida; eight  grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother Alfred Gola of Monson and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, John Gola, Delia Authier and Sophie Dalton.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5-7 in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson.  Funeral services will begin Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 9am in Lombard Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Patrick's Church with burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery all in Monson.
