Richard P Roman

Monson-Richard P. Roman, 75, of Old Lyme, CT and formerly of Monson, MA lost his valiantly fought battle with prostate cancer. He is deeply missed by his wife Janet of 45 years, brother Louis, children Evan and Caitlin, her partner Ben Nyzio, and his dog and best pal Fionn. He was born in Palmer, the son of Mary and Louis Roman. He served in the US Airforce as a Medic, followed by a 40 plus year career working as a Respiratory Therapist, with over 25 years working with his cherished friends at Mary Lane Hospital.

Most importantly, Richard’s life revolved around the those he loved. He devoted himself to raising his kids, coaching their sports and never missing a single game. He spent winters in Florida with his wife, always trying to catch the big fish. He was a fun-loving guy with a quick wit and wacky sense of humor. He had a passion for Saratoga Race Track, all New England sports teams, and will never stop rooting the UMASS Minuteman Basketball team.

In addition to his immediate family, Rich leaves behind his brother in-law’s Joe Ryan and Ron Chapin, the Zelazo family, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In the hearts of those who loved you, you will always be there.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St in Monson, MA. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 2-4pm in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 25, 2024 at 11am in St Patrick’s Church 22 Green St Monson MA. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
