Biography
Ruth E. (Maynard) (Hudson) Gerle, 88, died Friday, October 22, 2010. Born in Ludlow, MA, to the late Walter and Eva (Borgeson) Maynard, she has been a longtime resident of Monson. She was a graduate of Franklin County Hospital School of Nursing and served in the US Navy as a Nurse during WWII. Upon leaving the Navy she worked for the Visiting Nurse Association of Monson for many years before becoming the first school nurse for the Town of Monson. She proudly held that position from 1970 until her retirement in 1984.
Ruth is survived by her husband Frank O. Gerle, whom she married in 1987 and shared her retirement years with both in Monson and wintering in Texas. She also leaves nieces, nephews and many close friends. Ruth was predeceased by her first husband Donald Hudson; her brother, Alfred Maynard and sister in-law Annie Maynard.
