Monson- Edward L. Burnett, 77, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019. Ed was born in Worcester, MA, January 13, 1942 to the late Edward L. Burnett and Martha Jane Burnett Spencer. He has been a longtime resident of Monson. Ed was a heavy equipment operator. He worked for periods of time for the Town of Monson, Payne Gang Cable Co., Williams Distributors and Trailers of New England. He was an Army Veteran serving from 1959-1962. Ed continued his military service being a member and Post Commander of the Monson American Legion Post 241 and a member of the VFW in Hampden. Ed was a lifetime member of the Monson Quaboag Riders. He was an avid Red Sox and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed the beach and his extended family at the Walnut St. Cafe.
Ed leaves his wife of more than 56 years, Diana M. (Webber) Burnett; a daughter, Lisa A. Burke and her partner Thomas Tassinari of Monson; a son, Daniel G. Burnett; a brother Conrad Burnett and his wife Betty of Virginia; grandchildren, Stephen Burke and his fiancee, Tabitha Guertin, Melissa A. Burke, Ashley R. Hoher and her fiancee, Adam Cole; great grandchildren Kendra Burke and Matthew Kenyon. Ed was predeceased by his son Edward L Burnett III in 1975.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2019 in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson. Visiting hours will be from 10am until 12noon, funeral procession and burial with Military Honors will take place at Quabbin Park Cemetery in Ware.
