George C Vreeland

Wales - George C. Vreeland, 93, passed away, Friday, June 8, 2018.  George was born July 17, 1924 in Southbridge, MA to the late Wilfred R. and Flora R. (LaValley).  He was a graduate of Cole Trade School and was a Navy veteran of WWII.  George worked at Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary and retired after 35 years in 1977. He was a member of the Wales Baptist Church and a member of VFW Post 2597 in Wales. 

George was predeceased by his wife Nancy T. (Lane) Vreeland in 1996 and a step-son Chip Chapin in 2017.  He leaves a son Bruce Vreeland of Ware, William Vreeland of Philadelphia, Margo Moy of Wales, Sandra O'Brien of Springfield and Sharon Wilde of Georgia; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 5-7pm in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson.  A committal service with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 3pm at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery In Agawam.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Wales Fire Department, Fire and Rescue, PO Box 604 Wales, MA 01081 or to the Wales Baptist Church 23 Main St. Wales, MA 01081.
