Helen F (Murphy) Colling

Monson- Helen F. (Murphy) Colling, 95, died Friday, May 5, 2017. Helen was born in Monson, June 15, 1921 to the late Thomas F. and Mary A. (Hogan) Murphy.  She was a graduate of Monson High School and received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Framingham State College. Mrs. Colling has been a life long resident of Monson. She was an elementary school teacher for the Town of Hampden for 40 years,she retired in 1991.  Helen was a communicant of St.Patrick's Church in Monson, a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma teaching sorority and a member of the Monson Historical Society.  She taught CCD classes after retirement and was an avid reader.

Helen was pre-deceased by her husband, Arthur K. Colling, Sr. She leaves her children; Arthur K. Colling, Jr., Andrew T. Colling and his wife Dawn, Christina M. Watson, Johanna M. Tassinari and her husband Daniel all of Monson; grandchildren, Nell Wood (Jeff), Scott Watson (Mary), Daniel Tassinari,Jr., (Nicole Boulanger), Adam Tassinari (Nancy), Matthew Tassinari, Nathaniel Tassinari ( Ania Tassinari, PhD), Owen Watson (Venus), Jennie Benedict (William), Brendan Colling (Lauren), Errin Colling, Meaghan Colling, MD, Caitlin Colling, MD, Hannah Colling, Olivia Colling; great grandchildren; Tyler Wood, Cameron Wood, Scottie Watson, Isabelle Tassinari, Julia Tassinari, Francis Tassinari, Regan Benedict, Owen Benedict, Morgan Benedict; brothers John Murphy of Loretta, PA and William F. Murphy of Monson. She was predeceased by a son; Charles Colling and her siblings; Thomas Murphy, Mary Parker and Dorothy Harris.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, May 9 from 5-7pm in Lombard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 10  with a visiting hour from 8:30-9:30 at the funeral home and Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Patrick's Church, burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery all in Monson.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Monson Free Library, High St Monson, St. Patrick's Restoration Fund Po Box 473 Monson or American Cancer Society 30 Speen St Framingham, MA 01701.
