Monson — Barbara Ann Fiorda, dedicated volunteer, cherished family member and friend and beloved paralegal, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, in Monson, Massachusetts—just one day before her 77th birthday. Barbara was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 28, 1948 and raised in Stamford, Connecticut.
A lifelong lover of singing and music, Barbara started writing songs, singing and playing the guitar in childhood. She and her good friend, Maura, actually recorded a few demos in New York when they were teenagers. She attended Regis College and graduated in 1970.
Barbara’s commitment to helping others eventually extended into her career. As CEO of the Crudem Foundation, she made several trips to Haiti, providing vital support to local hospitals and communities. Her selfless efforts reflected her deep compassion and her unwavering belief in the power of service to make the world a better place.
She later went on to earn her degree from Elms College and embarked on a fulfilling career as a paralegal at Jackson Law in Holyoke, where she was admired for her professionalism, integrity, and compassion. She loved meeting new people, learning new things, and building meaningful connections—qualities that defined her both personally and professionally.
She is survived by her brother, Vincent Fiorda and his wife, Pat, of Harwich, Massachusetts and their daughter, Katie (Brendan) Lynch. She loved her great nieces, Avery and Hadley, and had their pictures and artwork throughout her home. She is also survived by close friends Martha Rickson, Steve McCarthy, and their children, Jacquelyn Day and Michael Rickson. Barbara was predeceased by her loving parents, Vincent and Olga (Ausura) Fiorda.
Barbara’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a lasting example of kindness, compassion, and generosity—a reminder to approach life with love and to lend a helping hand whenever possible. Her spirit will forever shine as a guiding light for her family and friends.
In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, a small private burial will be held. Friends are invited to celebrate her life by reminiscing and sharing stories.
