Cynthia Nordin

Monson – Cynthia I. (North) Nordin, 83, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family, on August 12, 2026. Cynthia was born in Palmer, MA, on October 30, 1942, to the late Ernest G. and Bernice H. (Henry) North. She was a graduate of Monson High School and Fitchburg State University.

Cynthia began her teaching career in the Wilbraham School District before retiring from the Monson Public Schools in 2004. She was an elementary and middle school teacher, specializing in reading, a subject that was a personal passion of hers.

Cynthia was a member of the First Church of Monson, Congregational, and the Monson Garden Club. She was a past member and president of the Monson Athletic Boosters and served on the Board of Managers for the Monson Home for Aged People, where she was secretary for many years.

Cynthia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones, taking morning walks with her friends, tending to her flower gardens, swimming in her pool, and watching the Boston Red Sox. She loved vacationing on the coast of Maine, as well as cruising in the Caribbean, visiting Europe, and traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada. 

Cynthia leaves her husband of 62 years, Glen N. Nordin; her daughters, Jill Walulak and her husband, Michael, Amy Nordin, and Kristin Nordin, all of Monson; her grandchildren, Kurt Meshlovitz and Nicole Meshlovitz; and her sister-in-law, Janet Juneau. She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Robert and George North.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lombard Funeral Home of Monson. Visiting hours will be held Monday, August 24, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery all located in Monson.
