Hampden-Dale R. Hatch, 68, passed away Tuesday August 25, 2026. Dale was born to the late Richard A Hatch Sr and Carol (Maher) Hatch. He has been a life long resident of Hampden. For may years he worked for Scott Flag Excavation in Monson, retiring earlier this year.
Dale could often be found tinkering with whatever needed repair and tending to his garden and orchard. Some of his many passions were bee-keeping, 4-H and photography. He would often repurpose and repair antiques. He was particularly proud of restoring an apple press, enjoying many years of cider. He was the last Scout Master for Troop 171, serving in that role for more than a decade. He also received scouting awards, served on leadership training courses, and held positions that impacted the organization at a larger scale. In his most recent years he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife Karen P. (Bossen) Hatch. He leaves their children; Ben Hatch and his wife Jenn, Daniel Hatch and his fiancée Caitlynn Barrows, Elisabeth Barr and her husband Andrew; grandchildren; Abby, Maximilian and Lilly; his step-mother Judith H. Hatch; his sister, Joann Michalik and her husband Rich; brothers Peter Hatch and his wife Ruth, Brian Hatch and his wife Lissee Lombard, RJ Hatch and his wife Kara along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services have been entrusted to Lombard Funeral Home of Monson. Public visitation will be held Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 11am-1pm in the funeral home. A private family burial will be held at a later time.
