Edward J Szarlan

Monson- Edward J. Szarlan, 61, died Friday, June 16, 2016, surrounded by the love of family.  Ed was born in Springfield, June 9, 1956 to J. Edward and Yvonne A. (Gibeau) Szarlan.  He was a graduate of Monson High School and University of Massachusetts-Amherst .  Ed was a sales manager for Altria Group, based in Richmond, VA.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing (especially ice fishing with the gang).  He loved the Cape and all the creatures he could chase in the ocean, fish, blue crabs and any shell fish available.   Ed was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend.

Ed leaves his wife, Carolyn E. (Dean) Szarlan; two sons, Peter J. Szarlan of Brimfield and Michael H. Szarlan of Mashpee; his father, J. Edward Szarlan of Monson; a brother, Michael E. Szarlan of Delaware; a sister, Donna M. Maher and her husband Gregory of Illinois.   Ed was predeceased by his mother, Yvonne A. Szarlan in 2015.


Visiting hours will be held Friday, June 23, 2017 from 4-7pm in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics 512 Forest St. Marlborough, MA 0175 or Wellfleet Shellfish Department 35 Kendrick Ave Wellfleet, MA 02667.
