Evelyn (Kouroubacalis) Getchell

October 27, 1936 — September 3, 2017

Monson- Evelyn (Kouroubacalis) Getchell, 80, died Sunday, September 3, 2017, surrounded by the love of family.  Evelyn was born October 27, 1936 in Boston to the late Charles P. and Bessie (Barakas) Kouroubacalis, she grew up in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. Evelyn lived in Plainville, MA for many years before moving to Monson in 1980. She loved to cook, was devoted to her family and lived her life following her savior, Jesus. Evelyn was a member of the Crossway Christian Church in Palmer.  For many years she was the Sunday School Superintendent and a teacher, she also was the secretary and treasurer.  For many years she was the youth group leader along with her husband Sheldon.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Sheldon H. Getchell in 2010.  She leaves her son James S. Getchell and his wife Joann of Monson; daughters, Ellen J. Dore and her husband Daniel of S. Attleboro, MA and Paula A. Watson and her husband Timothy of Wales; brothers Peter Kouroubacalis of Lynn, MA and James Kouroubacalis of Northwood, NH; a sister Irene Kouroubacalis of Beverly, MA; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 4-7pm in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017  at 10am in Crossway Christian Church 2230 Main St, Three Rivers, MA with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Monson.
