Gabriel R Lecours

Monson — Gabriel R. "Gabe" Lecours, 91, passed away at home on July 19, 2026. Born on January 11, 1935, in Hardwick, Vermont, he was the son of the late Eloi and Marie R. (Castonguay) Lecours. Gabe was a graduate of Monson High School and remained a lifelong resident of Monson.

Gabe enjoyed any job that involved driving. Throughout his working years, he was employed by Cushman Bakery and Stateline Potato Chips and also delivered newspapers. He later owned and operated L. Trash Removal for several years and was a licensed Realtor with Landmark Realty for many years.

In his free time, Gabe enjoyed gardening, deer hunting, deep-sea fishing, crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble. He also served for a time on the Monson Conservation Commission. Gabe was well known for his punctuality—a trait that reflected his dependable nature and was appreciated by all who knew him.

Gabe is predeceased by his first wife Judy (Watson) Lecours. He leaves his wife Debra (Smith) Messina; his children, Peter Lecours, Catherine Partelo, Theresa Fimognari, Annette Partelo, Jeanette Gordon and Angela Demetriou along with their families; twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; sisters; Cecelia Watson and Marie T. Anderson and their families

He also leaves his stepchildren; Angela Doyle, Nicole Messina, Ashley Messina and Jamie Messina along with their families.

He was blessed with the friendship of his longtime neighbors, Bobby and Patti Mastroianni whose kindness, unwavering support, and years of companionship meant more than words can express. He also leaves close friends, including Billy Davis.

Gabe is predeceased by his parents and siblings, Gerard, Jean Marie, Joseph and Eugene.

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 10 am in St Patrick’s Church 22 Green St Monson, MA. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery also in Monson. Please gather directly at the church. There are no visiting hours.
