Monson-Joseph W. McClosky, Sr., 93, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 surrounded by the love of family. Born December 4, 1918 in Monson to the late Alexander and Catherine (Fila) McClosky, he has been a life long resident here. Joseph was a Army Veteran of WWII and then he worked at C.F. Church Co in Monson for many years as a machine operator. He was a member of the American Legion in Monson, was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling.
Mr. McClosky leaves his wife of 65 years Yvonne M. McClosky; a son Joseph W. McClosky, Jr. and his wife Amy of Monson; a daughter Deborah Marvell of Lowell, MA; son in-law Michael E. Griffin of Monson. He was predeceased by his daughter Janice A. Griffin in 2009 and two brothers Edwin McClosky and Peter McClosky. He leaves a brother; Theodore McClosky of Thorndike and sisters; Helen Wielkiewicz of Three Rivers and Margaret Szado of Monson; eight grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday December 29, 2011 at 10am in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. with burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery both in Monson. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4-6pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Baystate Hospice 50 Maple Street Springfield, MA .
