WEST STAFFORD- Joseph Negrelli Jr., 90, son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Cavanaugh) Negrelli died on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton from complications of diabetes and pneumonia. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 45 years, Diana Josephine (Kosior) Negrelli. Together, they lived in West Stafford for over 30 years where they were active members of Grace Episcopal Church. Joe served in the military branches of the Army and Air Force between the years of 1947 and 1955. He retired from the CT Department of Corrections in 1981. He was Past Master of Ionic Lodge 110 and was recently honored for 50 years of service in the Masonic Fraternity of Connecticut. Joe was a member of American Legion Post 26 and honored with a citation from the State of CT for organizing Stafford’s Memorial Day Parade. One of Joe’s hobbies was operating concessions at fairs and celebrations most notably as the World-Famous Weight Guesser throughout North America including the Big E in West Springfield, MA. Joe was distinguished by lecturing at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. He was a member of the Bahia Shriners “Fun and Frolic” clown unit in Orlando, FL. Joe also enjoyed researching family genealogy.
Joe is survived by four children: Joseph Negrelli III of New York, NY, Catharine Rowe of Burlington, Daniel Negrelli and his wife, Karen, of Canton, and James Negrelli of Hebron, KY; three grandchildren, Alyssa Negrelli, James “Bubby” Negrelli II, and Keira Negrelli; a brother-in-law, Bronislaw Kosior and his wife Jeannie of Westfield, MA and a niece Janette Kosior of Norwalk. He was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Negrelli, a nephew, Bron Kosior, and a brother Thomas Negrelli of Arizona. Joe is also survived by a special friend Sonya Fagan of Manchester.
A public funeral and burial will be held at West Stafford Cemetery, 15 Chestnut Hill Rd., Stafford Springs, CT at 11AM on Saturday, May 15, 2021.
