Monson- Katherine (Taylor) Jarvis, 77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 1, 2026 in her home. Katherine was born December 21, 1948 in Springfield MA to the late Thomas and Catherine (Seitz) Taylor.
Katherine was a graduate of the High School of Commerce and the historic Newport Hospital School of Nursing in Rhode Island. She was a Registered Nurse and worked in several area hospitals including Mass General, Springfield Hospital and Mary Lane Hospital. She finished her career when she retired from her beloved position as Nurse Kathy at the Rebecca Johnson School in Springfield.
Together with the love of her life Gary, Katherine raised four children. She was a Constant Reader who loved going to the library a few times a week. She also enjoyed going to concerts and had a rich, varied taste in music. She loved baking, and could always be counted on to bring a delicious dessert to functions. Katherine adored her three grandsons, and was so proud to be their Nana.
Katherine will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her, but no one more than her loving husband of 50 years, Gary R. Jarvis. She also leaves her cherished children, Carey E. Jarvis-Tuckey of Agawam, Matthew G. Jarvis of Monson, and Katie J. Levesque and her husband Andrew of W. Springfield; her treasured grandchildren, Michael Tuckey, Jack Tuckey and Matthew Jarvis. She leaves her beloved sister Grace Flores and her husband Heriberto of Springfield. She treasured her siblings’ children, and leaves behind several dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Katherine was preceded in death by her son Adam T. Jarvis and her siblings, Stephen, Thomas, John, Matthew and Elizabeth Taylor.
Services have been entrusted to Lombard Funeral Home of Monson. Public visiting hours will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 5-7pm. A private funeral service with burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
