Margaret "Peg" M Harrison

Monson-Mary Margaret (Peg) Harrison, 83, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 22, 2026. Born in Buffalo, New York to Margaret M. (Roach) and Orrin J. Haettich, Peg was the oldest of four daughters. She graduated from Bishop Quigley High School and Springfield Technical Community College, earning degrees in Respiratory Therapy and Nursing. She married Edward Harrison and moved to Monson, MA, where she raised her family and became actively involved in the community.

Peg was first and foremost a mother and grandmother. She deeply loved and cherished her family, a family defined not only by blood and marriage, but also the many people she welcomed into her heart. Her boundless generosity and instinct to care for others flowed into every part of her life. She gave freely and selflessly to so many, often putting others' needs before her own.

Peg served on the Parks and Recreation Committee and the Board of Health, delivered Meals on Wheels, and belonged to the Democratic Town Committee. She spent many years as a Registered Nurse at Monson Developmental Center, bringing kindness and compassion to those in her care, and forging enduring friendships. Later in life, she found another meaningful way to serve her community through her work at the Monson Senior Center.

Peg was an avid reader and armchair bird watcher who took great pleasure in sipping a glass of Black Box Merlot while scratching a lottery ticket or picking a pony in a race at Saratoga. She was a convert to online shopping as yet another means to spoil her grandchildren and others.

Peg’s Catholic faith was an integral part of her identity and woven through the fabric of her daily life. It brought her comfort, guidance, and a sense of belonging to her spiritual community.

After residing in Holland for a short time, Peg returned to Monson. Living independently in her beloved adopted hometown brought her great joy. She renewed connections with old friends and welcomed new ones. Peg was a homebody at heart, but her love for Buffalo and the family she grew up with never faded, and this summer, once again, she traveled to Buffalo for her family reunion. She also joined her children at their annual vacation on Cape Cod. Peg’s home was always with the family she loved so much.

Peg will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed by her daughters, Cheryl, Heather, Holly, Melissa, and Rebecca; her sons-in-law, Bill, Jon, Rob, Patrick, and Alan; her grandchildren, Patrick and Kerry, Benji and Joe, Jeremy, Charlotte, Britt, Hunter, Michele, Reece, Connor, Garrett, Alessandra, and Julianna; her great grandchildren, Lyla, Brooks, and Brooke; her sister, Michele; her sister-in-law, Susan; her brothers-in-law, Bill and Bill; her nieces and nephews; her extended family, especially the Buffalo Cousins; and so many friends.

It brings her family peace to know Peg is reunited with her sisters Pam and Pat, and her beloved daughter, Elizabeth.

A Funeral Mass will be held on September 3, 2026, at 10 am at Saint Christopher Parish  16 Sturbridge Road, Route 20, in Brimfield, MA.
