Wales-Michael W. Bournique, 71, affectionately known as "Mike/Mikey", passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA, with his loving wife, Nancy by his side. Born on April 7, 1954, in Springfield, MA. Mike wore many “hats” throughout his life-the longest standing being auto-body work which he had his garage set up for. He worked as a truck driver for three decades and retired from T&P Truck Lease in Ludlow in 2023 after more than 20 years of service.
Mike was a man of many talents and interests. He had a childlike enthusiasm that endeared him to those around him. He was generous with his time, always willing to help others. He loved creating, through woodworking and painting which was evident in his home. He loved fishing especially off his pontoon boat in the lake where he lived in Wales. Camping at Rogers Rock, Lake George, New York was a favorite vacation spot in the Spring and Fall. He was proud of the home he and Nancy renovated in Wales. He had pursued and received a patent for a deep-sea fishing pole handle to assist with catching fish.
He leaves behind Nancy (Baxter) Bournique, his wife of 33 years; son Todd Bournique, daughter Jenna Pelissier and husband Will, and step-son Chris Stayer and his wife Kim, seven grandchildren (5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters), 2 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. Mike is also survived by his brothers, Steve Bournique and his wife Maggie of Chicopee, and Carl Pomietlarz and his wife Terri of Belchertown, sisters, Darlene Joaquin of Granby, Tina Bournique of Ludlow, Sandy Conkey and husband John of Florida. Also, his two Aunts (AB) Aunt Bev of Florida and Aunt Dot of Texas. He is predeceased by his father Joseph Bournique, mother Dorothy (Scadden) Pomietlarz, step-father, Charlie Pomietlarz and grandson Matthew Stayer.
Mike truly enjoyed his friends and talking with people he just met. He never met a stranger.
