Monson-Norma Jean (Boussy) Buckley, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 30th at home after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by family, friends, and her beloved pets Pearl and Jolene. She was born in Springfield, MA November 1, 1941 and was a long time resident of Hampden before moving to Monson in 2001.
Norma was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Alice Boussy and her son in-law Stephen Kacoyannakis. She is survived by her daughters, Terri Kacoyannakis of Monson, MA, and Tamara Buckley-Leclerc and Scott of Ashby, MA; and her grandchildren, Kayli and Michael Derryberry of Marlborough, MA, Kyle Kacoyannakis of Monson, MA, Moira, Miranda, and Able Leclerc of Ashby, MA. She also leaves behind her “sister” Paula Collings DeRaleau Chartier of Belchertown, MA, as well as many other cousins whom she loved dearly.
Norma retired from the Connecticut Department of Corrections after 17 years of service. Norma was a very creative person, always making flower arrangements, signs of all sorts, jewelry and was always up for any new craft she came upon. She had an open-door policy for both animals and people alike who needed help or shelter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Queens Hound Sanctuary 503 (c) 2716 W Prospect Street in Fort Collins, Colorado 80526, where her beloved Jolene now resides with many new siblings to play with.
There will be no calling hours, and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
