Wales- Richard Stockton Ullery, Jr., 83, passed away, March 11, 2016 surrounded by family. He was born November 1, 1932 in Springfield to the late Richard S. Ullery, Sr and Velma (LaFontaine) Ullery. He was a graduate of Monson Academy, American International College, and the University of Connecticut. Richard served in the US Army from 1956-1958. He was a teacher at Wilbraham Jr. High School, then became principal of the Wilbraham Middle School from 1960-1992.. Richard was a police officer in Wales beginning in 1972, he was then promoted to Chief in 1979 where he served in that capacity until 2007. When he retired he was the oldest acting police chief in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at 70 years old.
Richard is survived by his son Richard S. Ullery III of Wilbraham, and daughters Lisa Ditmar of Longmeadow and Elizabeth Ullery of Venice, CA.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Ullery of Trenton, FL
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 9-11am in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson, MA , A graveside service with Military Honors will follow at 11:30 in Wales #4 Cemetery on Laurel Hill Road in Wales.
