Holland- Robert E. Cox Sr., 89, affectionately known as "Bob," was born on June 18, 1936, in Monterey, Tennessee. He passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, in Holland, Massachusetts. Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he specialized in Morse code, showcasing his commitment and service to his country. Outside of his Military Service, Bob also earned a degree in Business Administration from Jackon Business University, of Jackson, Michigan.
A true people person, Bob touched the lives of many through his warm personality and engaging spirit. His interests were diverse, reflecting his passion for community and family. Bob was particularly known for his dedication to working in the Food Cart at local fairs for R & R Concessions, where he established connections with countless attendees. Over the span of more than 50 years, he served as a devoted foster dad to over 350 babies, an endeavor that highlighted his nurturing nature and profound love for children. Additionally, he enjoyed his time as an antique collector and dealer, reveling in the stories and histories behind the items he cherished. Bob also had a fondness for bowling and was an active member of the local Shriner community as well as a Past Master for Michigan Lodge No. 50.
Bob is survived by his son Randy L. Cox of Holland, his son Ryan A. Cox and Kelly of Sturbridge, and his daughter Renee and Gregory of Milford, New Hampshire. He is also deeply cherished by his sisters Barbara Butcher, Eva May, and Brenda May and Bob, all of Michigan. Bob's legacy will continue through his 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who will remember the love and guidance he provided throughout their lives.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Cox, as well as his father William Cox, mother Dorothy (Buckner) Cox, son Robert E. Cox Jr., brother Marland Cox, and sisters Lucy Rodriguez and Caroline Frost.
A visitation to honor Bob will be held on November 15, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Lombard Funeral Home, located at 3 Bridge Street, Monson, MA 01057. A Funeral Service will commence at 11:00 AM, and will begin with an Evergreen Service, and conclude with Military Honors being rendered. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Bob are invited to celebrate his remarkable life and lasting impact.
