Barbara M (Hutchinson) Leger

Springfield-Barbara M. Leger, 96, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020.  Barbara was born March 25, 1924 in Springfield to the late Clifford and Mable (Matthews) Hutchinson.  She was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School.  For many years she worked at Food Mart in Springfield and the surrounding communities.  Barbara was a member of the former St Luke's Episcopal Church in Springfield.  She loved cats, enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking.  She baked prize winning apple pies and lemon squares for family, friends and many church events.  Barbara was a very giving person and could be found often helping her neighbors. 

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, John W. Leger in 1993.  She leaves a son, John M. Leger of Belchertown and his partner Carol Pitts of Brimfield; a daughter, Karen E. Leger and her partner Richard St. Germain of Hampden;  a cousin, Bernard Matthews of Vermont; three grandchildren, Kevin R. Houle, Kelly M. Houle and Kristopher J. Houle; six great grandchildren, Kacey, Karly, Nicholas, Jason, Braeden and Collin.

Services will be held Friday, July 17, 2020.  Family and friends may gather from 9-10am with a funeral service at 10am in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson, MA 01057.
