Candace J (Crawford) Young

Monson- Candace J. (Crawford) Young, 78, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023.  Candace was born in Gardner, MA November 15, 1944 to the late Carlton R and Lottie J. (Simpson) Crawford.  She was a graduate of Athol High School and has been a resident of Monson for many years.  Candace retired from Quaboag Transfer after 24 years as a dispatcher.  She was a member of the First Church of Monson, Congregational and belonged to the Hearts Willing Women’s group and was a member of the Christian Education Committee.

For many years she spent winters in Florida.  Candace enjoyed playing golf, cooking, and most of all spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. 

Candace was predeceased by her husband Robert S. Young in 2019 and her daughter Heather (Young) North in 2012.  She leaves her son, Christian Young and his wife Jennifer of Monson; sisters, Karen Dirico and her husband Dennis of Yarmouthport and Carol Torchia and her husband Joe of Orange; three grandchildren, Ashley North, Jack Young, Alex Young and her niece, Kasey Torchia.

Services have been entrusted to Lombard Funeral Home of Monson. A visiting hour will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 10-11am with a funeral service in the funeral home at 11am.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Monson.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Church of Monson, Congregational 5 High Street Monson, MA 01057.
