GERTRUDE L. FOUNTAIN

WARREN- Gertrude Lorretta (Ouellette) Fountain died on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 96 years young after a short illness. She was born in Thompsonville, CT on July 29, 1923 a daughter of the late George and Elsie (Miller) Ouellette. She was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School and at the age of 47 went back to school and received a bachelor’s degree from Worcester State College. She was a proud elementary school teacher for over 14 years in the Town of Warren. She and her late husband of 62 years, Francis E. Fountain resided in Warren for over 50 years and for a time in Florida. She was an avid golfer and was proud to have had two holes in one “both on Mothers Day”.  She was voracious reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. 

She is survived by her two sons, William Fountain and his wife Gail of Longmeadow; Timothy Fountain and his wife Catherine of Longmeadow; her daughter, Susan Fountain of Anderson Island, WA; her sister, Shirley Hicks of Brimfield; her adored grandchildren, Sean Fountain, Sarah Clark, Katelin Metzdorf, Kamil Fountain, Victoria Fountain and great grandchildren, Hailey Fountain, Mikayla Clark and Thomas Metzdorf.  Gertrude was predeceased by her daughter, Ann Metzdorf and her grandson Andrew Metzdorf. She was also predeceased by brothers George Ouellette, Rev. Kenneth Ouellette and sisters Dorothy Faulkner, Ruth Muska, and Bernice Rhicard.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 4-7PM at Lombard Funeral Home, 3 Bridge St., Monson, MA 01057. A funeral home service will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 10AM. The burial will follow in Brimfield Cemetery.
