Karen B (Bossen) Hatch

Hampden- Karen P. (Bossen) Hatch passed away, Tuesday, November 16, 2021 surrounded by love of family.  Karen was born in Camden, NJ to the late Samuel and Rose (Constantine) Bossen.  She was a graduate of Minnechaug Regional High School and continued her education at HCC and STCC in the studies of early childhood education.  Karen cared for many young children during the 27 years she operated Hatchling Family Childcare. She then worked at First Step Nursery School as the assistant Director for 10 years. Karen had just begun a new adventure with Head Start in Northampton. Karen founded the Farmers Market in Hampden. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She loved gardening and baking and most of all sharing the bounty with family and friends.  She was passionate about volunteering and caring for her dogs. She always welcomed family and friends into her home. Karen had a quick wit, always ready to share a funny joke and an infectious smile.

Karen leaves her loving husband of 40 years, Dale R. Hatch and their children, Benjamin Hatch and his wife Jennifer, Elisabeth Barr and her husband Andrew, Daniel Hatch and his partner Caitlynn Barrows; brothers John Bossen and his wife Mary, Joseph Bossen and his partner Colleen Dougherty; sisters, Sandra Cahill and her husband David, Audrey DeNyse and her husband Paul; a granddaughter, Abigail Hatch and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.  

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 1-4pm in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 22, 2021 at 11am in St. Mary's Church in Hampden.  Please join the family directly at church.  Burial will be private.
