Robert B Griggs

Wales-Robert B. Griggs, 82, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022.  Bob was born July 24, 1939 in Webster, MA to the late Elmer C. and M. Jeanette (Gaulin) Griggs.  Bob grew up in Sturbridge and was a graduate of Tantasqua High School class of 1957. He has lived in Wales since 1963 where he raised his family.  Bob retired from Package Machinery in East Longmeadow after 31 years where he held the position of President of the Union.  After he left Package Machinery,  he began a second career working as a health care worker for the state. In his youth, Bob excelled in many sports and set a batting record at Tantasqua High School.  For many years, he coached Babe Ruth Baseball in Wales as well as Pop Warner Football in Stafford , CT.
 
Bob leaves his wife Elaine M. (Felton) Griggs, their sons, Edward P. Griggs of Wales, John M. Griggs of Palmer, James P. Griggs and his wife Nancy of LA, California, and Paul A. Griggs of San Diego, CA ; a grandson, Nick Nichols of San Diego, CA; and grandson, Ted Ziegler of Groton, Ct, and granddaughter,  Gretchen Newsome of Mystic, Ct, a brother, Edwin C. Griggs and his wife Elaine of Waterford, CT. Bob was predeceased by a son, Daniel R. Griggs in 1990. 
 
Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St of Monson has been entrusted with the arrangements.  Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. A funeral procession will form Wednesday May 4th at the funeral home beginning at 9:30am. Liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday May 4, 2022 at 11am in St Christopher's Church in Brimfield .  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.  
 
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
